WILLIAM M. LEVINE is an acclaimed practitioner with a broad expanse of Family Law experience. His practice focuses predominantly on divorce and related matters, including property, support, custody, paternity, antenuptial agreements, equity and other litigation matters.

A graduate of Northwestern University (1974) and Suffolk University Law School (1978), Mr. Levine was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1978, and is also admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States District Court, District of Massachusetts. Before entering the private practice of law, Mr. Levine served as a child abuse and neglect litigator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Social Services.

Mr. Levine is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, serving as an officer of the AAML Massachusetts Chapter from 1997-2005, including Acting President (2002-3) and President (2004-5). He is past Chairman of the national AAML Arbitration Committee (2005-2008); and he presently serves on the national Board of Governors (2009- ). For his exceptional service to the Academy Chapter, Mr. Levine was awarded the inaugural President's Award in 1995. He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; and served as Chairman of the Boston Bar Association Family Law Committee and Family Law Section (1987-1989). Mr. Levine has recently completed a term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Massachusetts Chapter (2006-2009).

Mr. Levine is identified in every edition of Naifeh & Smith's The Best Lawyers in America in the field of Family Law since 1995. He was identified as one of "The Top 100" in Worth Magazine's guide to the nation's best lawyers (December 2005). He has received recognition as one of the "Top 100 Lawyers" in all practice areas in Massachusetts as a "Super Lawyer" in Boston Magazines' Law & Politics Massachusetts Super Lawyers, since its 2005 inception; and has also been named a top lawyer in Boston Magazine's Law and Politics New England Super Lawyers since 2007, when it began. In Boston Magazine's "The Best Lawyers" edition (October 2002) Mr. Levine was identified as one of only four Family Law practitioners. According to the authors of the last noted recognition, his selection followed interviews with hundreds of lawyers, judges, clients and others in the legal system, the stated determinative criteria being: "They are very good at what they do. They are ethical. And they meet the elusive third measure of quality: customer satisfaction. More than mere technicians, they are counselors who care."

In addition to practicing in the negotiation, litigation, trial and appeal of all manner of Family Law matters, Mr. Levine is a trained and certified Matrimonial Arbitrator (AAML 1990) and Family Law Mediator (AAML 1995) and as a practitioner of Collaborative Law (MCLC 2008).

Mr. Levine has authored numerous articles on matters of Family Law, on topics including antenuptial agreements, paternity litigation, child support, alimony and property division. Recent articles are "Examining Disproportionate Asset Distribution" and "Adultery Divorce and the 5th Amendment Privilege", both published in the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Mr. Levine wrote the original chapter on "Paternity" for the Massachusetts Family Law Manual, he has co-authored the chapters on child related issues for the Massachusetts Divorce Law Manual, and on psychological experts in custody cases in a treatise on expert witnesses, all published by the Massachusetts Continuing Education - New England Law Institute.

Mr. Levine teaches frequently, primarily as a chair of continuing legal education programs and as a guest lecturer at law schools, bar associations and other groups.
