Marc CooperSince his admission to the Massachusetts Bar in 1982, MARC J. COOPER has practiced extensively and exclusively in all areas of Family Law. His practice has focused on all related issues involved with the negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation of divorce and divorce related matters including but not limited to pre-marital agreements, paternity, support, property division, child custody and parenting plans, post-judgment and appellate practice, and all other issues ancillary to all family law matters. In addition to practicing in the negotiation, litigation, trial and appeal of all manner of family law matters, Mr. Cooper is a trained and certified Family Law Arbitrator (American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers).

Mr. Cooper graduated from Muhlenberg College with honors in 1979 and from Suffolk University Law School in 1982. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 1995, and actively involved with the Massachusetts Chapter since that time. He is the recipient of the 2002 Chapter President’s Award and has been an officer of the Chapter since 2005. Currently, he holds the position of Second Vice-President of the Chapter. Most recently, Mr. Cooper has been selected as a 2005, 2006, and 2007 Boston Magazine, Law & Politics Super Lawyer, a recognition extended to only 5% of Massachusetts attorneys. Mr. Cooper has also been awarded the "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which is granted to a select group of attorneys and indicates the highest possible peer rating within a particular practice area.

Mr. Cooper is a member of both the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations. A frequent faculty member in continuing legal education programs each year, Mr. Cooper is also a guest lecturer at law schools and has been appointed by Judges of the Probate & Family Court as a Master in pending divorce and modification actions. Mr. Cooper has also written extensively regarding domestic relations practice in Massachusetts, equitable distribution of property across the country, and other Family Law issues.
